Get the Lead Out!

Have you ever wondered what happens to those snags and broken lines from fishing? Join PCS for Get the Lead Out! and you'll find out. Get the Lead Out! is an in-stream and streambank cleanup to collect fishing line and lead from in the Maumee River as well as garbage from its shoreline.

PCS will provide the supplies, the maps, the tools - almost everything you need! So gather your fishing buddies, church group, family, and friends and call to register.

        Get the Lead Out!        
New and Improved for 2008
This year GLO has been re-vamped to be less weather
and water-level dependant. We're flexible so this will fit easily
into your busy schedule!
    There are just 3 easy steps:    
  1. Register & pickup your GLO Kit between
    May 12th to June 6th
  2. Collect lead sinkers, fishing line, & cleanup along the river
    from May 23rd-June 9th
  3. Turn in your GLO Kit and collected lead by June 13th
It's just that simple!
You will help clean up our streams, make them safer for wildlife,
and more enjoyable for everyone.
BONUS - Yes, there is a bonus. Each group that completes the
three steps will receive a certificate for their efforts,
a results fact sheet to see how everyone did,
and a FREE t-shirt for each registered participant!!

This event is recommended for age 13 and older due to the location and nature of materials being collected (i.e. hooks, entangled line, etc.).Recruit your fishing buddies, classmates, family, friends, or anyone you know that would like to help the environment. A Get the Lead Out! poster is available to help you share information about this great event.



Get the Lead Out! is perfect for student community service credits. Organization, school, and business groups are encouraged to participate as a team. Don’t forget to wear something to advertise your group, or bring a banner to let everyone know who you are. Please register by calling (419)373-3006 or (419)205-5588 or download and submit the Registration Form in MS Word (5.6MB) or PDF (92KB).


Liability forms will be provided with your GLO kit or can be downloaded before the event for those volunteers
who under 18 and need a parent or guardian signature. Your GLO Kit will also include gloves, garbage bags, pliers, and buckets. Volunteers who are encouraged to wear knee boots or shoes that can get wet. Hand pruners and 1-3 gallon buckets might be helpful.
