Did you know that the Great Lakes are the biggest freshwater source in the world? Lake Erie is the most productive for fishing of all the Great Lakes. Your support helps make our streams clean, clear and healthy so they can support this complex ecosystem. By donating to PCS, you help us reach our goals of restoring rivers that lead to Lake Erie beaches that promote fishable and swimmable conditions for generations.

hook from glo6.2.2012Have you gotten hooked on Get the Lead Out!?

We have! And here is your chance to join us! Get the Lead Out! is in its 8th year of removing harmful, left behind fishing gear, such as fishing line, lead and hooks from the Maumee River. PCS is planning three opportunities for you to Get the Lead Out! with us. So far, volunteers have covered  about 2 miles of river near Sidecut MetroPark and collected record amounts of lead and line (and of course some garbage along the way too). However, there is still plenty of river to cover where fisherman have inadvertently left fishing line and lead behind. Come join us while we remove these materials from our beautiful Maumee River on these dates:

July 22nd Sunday 3:00-6:00pm

Locations TBA (will be in Maumee River near Perrysburg and Maumee)

Everyone is welcome! Bring friends, family kids, significant others, co-workers, cousins, aunts, uncles and neighbors. Plan to walk in the Maumee River and along its banks, sometimes over logs and even through tall grasses and trees. Please dress according to terrain and weather. All volunteers are required to fill out a liability form to participate. Minors must have a parent or guardian signature to join us. Liability forms can be found on our Get the Lead Out! page or by clicking here.

Can't make it to any of these times? No problem! you can register with us by PDF or online registration and do the project on your own time. All equipment, training and trash hauling will be provided. Locations will be determined a few days before the event based on water levels and other logistics. Please RSVP if you plan to join us so we can plan appropriately.
