Did you know that the Great Lakes are the biggest freshwater source in the world? Lake Erie is the most productive for fishing of all the Great Lakes. Your support helps make our streams clean, clear and healthy so they can support this complex ecosystem. By donating to PCS, you help us reach our goals of restoring rivers that lead to Lake Erie beaches that promote fishable and swimmable conditions for generations.

Here is a recap of what we did for Earth Day 2012!

Storm Drain Stenciling- A HUGE thank you to all the volunteers that came out to join us on Saturday, April 21st to stencil on storm drains and remind residents that "Drains are for Rain, Flows to Waterway"! Together, we worked in 10 jurisdictions around Toledo, painted well over 200 storm drains, passed out flyers to over 500 homes with over 100 volunteers. And the numbers are still coming in! Thank you for reminding everyone how important it is to use our storm drains correctly and prevent pollution in our waterways. If you have a group that is interested in doing Storm Drain Stenciling in the coming months, please let us know. There are plenty more drains to stencil! Congratulations everyone for a job well done. Our streams thank you!!

Party for the Planet was certainly a party! We had a table set up at the Toledo Zoo from 10am-4pm in the main plaza. We discussed the dangers of pollution especially by lead and line with demonstrations, pictures and a bucket full of Get the Lead Out refuse. Hundreds of people stopped by to examine river trash, look at event pictures, learn about upcoming events and new ways of keeping our waterways clean. Thank you to the Toledo Zoo for hosting a great chance to celebrate our Earth and help everyone take a greater ownership of their water resources.

Our PCS staff also had the chance to attend two Environmental Fairs on college campuses this past week. We went to the Bowling Green State University and Owens Community College Environmental Fairs to discuss how Partners for Clean Streams takes scientific knowledge, governmental concerns, public needs and "environmental should do-es" and puts them into practical application with volunteer clean ups, workshops, stream restorations and public outreach. Thank you to those institutions for letting us discuss how we work to promote waterways that are clear, clean and safe.

Partners for Clean Streams Inc. is striving for abundant open space and a high quality natural environment; adequate floodwater storage capacities and flourishing wildlife; stakeholders who take local ownership in their resources; and rivers, streams and lakes that are clean, clear and safe
