On April 12, many volunteers will be in your local neighborhoods marking drains with the message: “Drains are for Rain, Flows to Waterways” as part of Global Youth Service Day. The youth volunteers are taking time to remind everyone (and learn) that rain and surface water flowing into storm drains is not filtered before it reaches the nearest streams. They are also asking people to not pollute and mistakenly dump things like trash, car oil, paint, and pet waste down these drains. While they are out in the community, give them a shout and tell them you appreciate their work. If your group would like to participate in Storm Drain Marking on a different date throughout the spring and summer, just let us know!
